Present Perfect, the use of the tense for past events with the results at present
We use Present Perfect to express actions that have a connection with the present moment or results:
- Has she gone out?
- I have got a new letter today. Look it through, please!
This tense also helps us to give new information or to announce a recent event:
- Look! Our mother has already cooked the dinner.
- There has been an accident. The road seems to be closed.
The constructions of the sentences:
+ Subject + have/has + predicate + the rest parts of the sentence.
- I have gone to the swimming pool.
- You have gone to the swimming pool.
- We have gone to the swimming pool.
- They have gone to the swimming pool.
- She has gone to the swimming pool.
- He has gone to the swimming pool.
- It has gone to the swimming pool.
- Subject + have/has + not + predicate + the rest parts of the sentence.
- I have not done the washing-up.
- You have not done the washing-up.
- We have not done the washing-up.
- They have not done the washing-up.
- She has not done the washing-up.
- He has not done the washing-up.
- It has not done the washing-up.
? Have/has + subject + predicate + the rest parts of the sentence.
- Have I eaten everything from the fridge?
- Have you eaten everything from the fridge?
- Have we eaten everything from the fridge?
- Have they eaten everything from the fridge?
- Has she eaten everything from the fridge?
- Has he eaten everything from the fridge?
- Has it eaten everything from the fridge?
