Predictions made with: be going to, Future Simple Tense, modals may or might. Revision of Present Simple and Present Continuous for future use
If we are talking about plans and intentions, we use to be going to:
- She is going to go to the market today.
- We are going to move to London.
Construction to be going to when we can see that something is likely to happen:
- I think it is going to snow.
- Be careful! You are going to fall.
Future Simple Tense is used when we are talking about predictionsbased:
- I think our group will win today.
- Your sister will like this cartoon.
Future Simple Tense is also used to mean want to or be willing to:
- I hope you will read this book.
- Sarah says she will help us to build this house.
When we make offers and promises and talk about them we use Future Simple:
- He will see us in two days.
- I will send you this parcel.
We use modals may, might when we are not sure about the future:
- He might do his homework today.
- I might stay at home tonight.
Present Simple is used for something scheduled or arranged:
- The bus arrives at 22.45 pm.
- It is her birthday in two days.
We can use the Present Continuous for plans or arrangements:
- We are visiting my parents this week.
- She is playing tennis tomorrow.
